January 18 A Heat Wave - 14 Degrees

It might be hard to believe, but the temperature went up 33 degrees to +14 degrees and it felt warm. So I took the dogs early in the morning to Brownell Woods for a hike in the snow. For some reason the parking lot was blocked off even though it had been plowed. I parked in the nearby neighborhood and when we got to the entrance about seven deer are standing still staring at us. Oslo, who always acts like the tough guy, just froze in step. He didn't bark either. Just stood still, then the deer took off into the woods. The dogs had a blast. The snow was about 8-12" deep in some spots. Fluffy was running around like a puppy. Oslo was all excited by the deer tracks we came across, of course no deer were in sight. All three of us romped in high snow through one of the fields at Brownell. On the way back both dogs stopped to remove the packed snow/ice from their paws.
