April 26, 2013 Jazzfest With A Side of 23 Oysters

The first band we saw today was Flow Tribe. We loved them. A great mix of musical styles both old school and cutting edge at the same time.

We passed a Mardi Gras Indian Parade on the way to...

... a dozen fresh oysters.

Somehow these pictures got out of order and I'm way behind on updating this blog so I'll describe where necessary. This is Terrance Simien & the Zydeco Experience. They put on a fun show.

Everyone on this Fais Do Do stage was entertaining. This is T'Monde. They played old fashioned Cajun music and were very good.

People were always dancing at the Fais Do Do stage. The good times were infectious here.

Chris Clifton & His Allstars playing traditional Dixieland music.

New Orleans would be very boring without it's colorful characters and they are everywhere...

...from all walks of life...

...and all kinds of music.

The Gospel Tent had them dancing in the aisles, thanks to the Friendly Travelers...

...dancing at the Lagniappe Stage thanks to Leroy Thomas & the Zydeco Roadrunners.

The last of the great New Orleans singing street vendors, Mr. Okra.

The Comanche Hunters Mardi Gras Indians were a sight to see and a sound to hear.

They had the Big Nine Social Aid & Pleasure Club dancing before their parade.

It always comes back to food for me and Chrissy, as she tries the crawfish enchilada.

Corey Ledet & His Zydeco Band.

Donald Harrison Jr.

Dr. John..sorry couldn't get anywhere near the stage.
The very entertaining Brice Miller & the Mahogany Brass Band.

Chicago in da house.

Whoa Christy, slow down on those tasty N'awlins Rum Punches.

Love the signs and banners at Jazzfest.

The great thing about Jazzfest is the people that attend love all types of music and are there to have a good time. Isn't that what life is about? Great music, amazing food, dancing and drinking with long time friends and new acquaintances. I love this city for all those reasons.

We watched John Mayer from waaaay in the back, then checked out Band of Horses.

We picked up my brother and had dinner at Acme Oyster. There was a very long line but we got seated quickly at the Oyster Bar. When in Rome etc, etc. So I ordered just a half dozen oysters this time because my very worrisome brother was warning me about mercury levels in shellfish. But this charismatic young man just kept putting oysters in front of me and I kept eating them. This northerner knows enough to be polite and accept southern hospitality. Another well spent day in NOLA.
